Lockdown or not lockdown, fashion is still there, expecting its adepts to pay tribute to the summery trends that appear to have resonated with the public. Designers are doing their best to present to bored work-from-homers and those hungry for a proper social life something that offers the perfect balance of comfort and zest. You’re welcome to explore the trends not to miss in the summer of 2021, brought to you by Enibbana.

  1. Wide-Leg Trousers

Let’s admit it: Skinny jeans are out. Well, they might linger for a while given their history of overwhelming popularity as the most universal bottom, but trendy trousers come with wide legs these days. This style might lack the opportunity to show off your body, although it’s not necessarily true in every case, it’s comfortable, to say the least. Depending on how wide the legs get, it can be a great way to make a statement or part of a great casual outfit.

Wide-leg pants combine well with other trends of the summer, such as bralettes and crop tops (features below), as well as loose, sporty-looking T-shirts and blazers. It’s up to you to pair them with heels or chunky sneakers, too.

  1. Crop Tops

If you’ve been looking for a way to show off your love for your body, crop tops are definitely something to invest in this summer. These come in every shape and color, from fancy corsets to simple cropped T-shirts and tank tops. Bralettes, however, seem to be especially in favor among fashion houses and street style enthusiasts alike. There are plenty of solid and patterned versions of varying complexity to choose from in this category, multiplied by the wide range of possible matches (remember the wide leg pant option above) to give you nearly infinite room for experiment.

  1. Sheer Fabrics and Meshing

Nothing looks as summery as a piece of see-through clothing. The limits are very vague this season, ranging from romantic diaphanous dresses that often combine the features of beach and occasionwear to caged mesh highlights (remember these don’t have to be limited to fishnet tights, which are back too, by the way).

  1. Knits and Crochet Clothes

For those who feel like they might miss the chunky look they’ve got used to while working from home, knitwear is a great opportunity to wear something less lightweight. Crocheted highlights will add structure to your summer look and create a healthy balance of weights and textures. Don’t forget the intricate patterns of holes they can bear, too!

  1. Puffy Sleeves

A detail that was forgotten for a long time, puffy sleeves have made their way to the streets of nearly every city. Combined with trendy monochrome and/or pastel looks, they add a romantic, slightly rustic twist to otherwise casual outfits, bringing out the wearer’s femininity.

  1. Cutouts

Cutouts are yet another way in which you can spice up an all-but-boring look. These look good on any body shape and can be used to create just the flair you want. Pair them with pastels to look even more feminine, or add a cutout to a minimalist outfit for an extra edge — there’s no wrong way to do it.

  1. Pastel Colors

Pastels are an all-time summer classic for pretty much any style and age. They are great for basic pieces such as plain tees, shirts, and dresses (remember puffy sleeves and/or sheer fabrics) which can be mixed and matched with bolder items. An all-pastel look, however, can be a statement in itself.

  1. Minimalism

The trend for stunningly straightforward designs appears to be going strong this summer, mostly represented by black and/or white total looks. Not to be confused with the pastels and polka dots trend! Simple geometry helps further enhance the edgy contrast, which can be used as a way to effortlessly stand out.

  1. Glitter

Quite contrary to the above minimalist trend, glitter is back on the catwalks, with many fashionistas eager to take advantage of it after a long time of glitterless fashion. Sparkles are a great way of celebrating the buoyant vitality of summer. For those looking for vibrant occasionwear, sequins are there in line with the lasting disco-inspired trend of the past months.

  1. Loose Denim

It’s no wonder that an increasing number of edgy outfits have been starring flared jeans as their centerpiece, but the trend for baggy denim shouldn’t be reduced to this style alone. Indeed, the stores are full of comfy jean clothes of every type, from button-down dresses to skirts and much in between. No matter what you are shopping for, go for a slouchy silhouette when it comes to denim.

  1. Mini Skirts

If you feel like your closet lacks energy or just want to cut the amount of fabric you wear to a bare minimum because it’s so hot outside, mini and ultra-mini skirts are at your service. These have been witnessed on many runways, ranging from romantic flared silhouettes to minimalist versions of the much-missed mini. Colors and materials are diverse, too.

  1. Wraparound Straps

A priceless geometric twist that will add an extra dimension to classical outfits and edgy looks for hot summer days alike, wraparound straps have already won the hearts of many people. This is one example of how a small detail can make a huge difference.

Bold Is the New Classy (but so Is Reserved)

Judging by what the catwalks have seen in recent weeks, this summer’s fashion is best described as a comfortably customizable blend of the basics and a pinch of fun. Well, it can be two pinches if you please. The only rule that seems to matter is that there should be no rules. Feel free to mix and match the time-tried classics like sleek black dresses and pastel colors with vibrant details to show off your unique personality and taste.

What are your favorite style trends for summer 2021? Are you thinking of finally giving that super delicate bralette a try and wondering how it will pair with your flared trousers? How about crop tops with high-waisted shorts? Tell us in the comments!
